Homemade Hamburger Helper

Happy weekend!

This week has felt like such a long week for some reason and, like always, I'm fairly behind on blog posts. Hopefully I can share one or two with you this weekend. I'm still on Noom and have seen some major changes in my weight and health since I started in April. The great thing about Noom is that you don't have to stop eating your favorite foods. I always make homemade dinners with healthier choices. This Homemade Hamburger Recipe is no different. The original recipe can be found HERE. We don't use salt in our recipes and I did make some substitutions in the ingredients below.

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp splenda
Black pepper
2 cups hot water
1 1/2 cups fat free milk
2 cups macaroni noodles
2 cups reduced fat cheddar cheese (or you can do a combination like we did)

Directions:
Heat a large skillet over medium/high heat. Spray with cooking spray and add the ground beef, breaking it up and stirring about 5-7 minutes until the meat is no longer pink. Drain fat.

In a bowl, combine cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, splenda, and pepper. Pour over the meat and stir well.

Add the hot water, milk, and pasta and bring to a boil. Cover with a lid, reduce heat and simmer for 11 minutes (until pasta is al dente).

Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the cooked pasta and stir until the cheese is melted into the sauce.

Remove from heat and let sauce thicken. Garnish with basil or seasonings.
