The Ultimate Macaroni and Cheese Dish

Have you ever tried an ultimate macaroni and cheese dish? Imagine different cheese types combined into one, add some seasonings, pasta, bacon, and breadcrumbs, and there you have it! Let's just say the ingredients were overwhelming but the meal was delicious. The original recipe was from my Tasty recipe book and can also be found HERE.

Ingredients:
1/2 pound bacon, sliced
1/8 cup minced garlic
2 cups panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup fresh parsley
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 cup evaporated milk
salt
pepper
2 teaspoons dry mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pound macaroni, cooked
2oz gouda cheese
4oz colby jack cheese
4oz mozzarella cheese
2oz parmesan cheese

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook bacon in skillet according to package. Remove from heat and dice. Move to a large pot. Add bread crumbs, parsley, and garlic. Stir and cook until the bread crumbs are toasted, 5-8 minutes. Remove from the pot and place in a bowl. Clean out the pot and on medium heat, melt the butter. Sprinkle in the flour and stir until combined. Add the evaporated milk and simmer. Season with salt, pepper, mustard powder, and cayenne. Add the pasta then all of the cheese - saving 2oz mozzarella and 2oz colby jack. Fold the cheese into pasta. Transfer to baking dish and top with mozzarella and colby jack. Bake 45 minutes or until the mac n cheese is bubbly and golden brown. I put some of the bread crumb mixture on before putting it in the oven, some halfway through and the remaining on when it was done cooking.

Enjoy!

**For next time, I am going to cook the breadcrumb mixture for about 5 minutes, add more evaporated milk, and bake the mac n cheese for 40 minutes instead of 45 minutes. Also, there were way too many breadcrumbs. I could have been OK with half of what is above.
