Cast-Iron Skillet Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon and Whiskey

Have you ever made Macaroni and Cheese with Whiskey? Me either. This Macaroni and Cheese recipe was made in the Cast-Iron Skillet, with whiskey, bacon, and of course, lots of cheese! There are A LOT of ingredients and it is a time-consuming recipe but really, really good. It is a very unique recipe that can be found HERE. We made some changes and our recipe is below :)

Ingredients:
1/2 tsp salt
12 pieces of smoked bacon
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup Whiskey (Jack Daniel's is in the original recipe)
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp garic powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cups milk
4oz cheddar cheese, shredded
8oz elbow pasta
4oz smoked provolone and asiago cheese (I actually found a shredded cheese blend with these two cheeses and others so if you find one with both, I recommend it!)

Directions:
Bring pot filled with water to a boil over high heat. Once it boils, add salt and pasta (8oz). Reduce heat to medium high and cook uncovered for 8 min. Drain and set aside. Warm a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Use scissors to cut bacon into bite size pieces and let them fall into the skillet. Cook until crisp. Once bacon is cooked, move bacon to a bowl. Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings and discard the rest. Wipe the side of the skillet. Pour reserved bacon drippings back into the skillet over medium heat and add butter. Once melted, add flour and whisk to combine. Add spices, Worcestershire, whiskey and chicken broth. Whisk to combine. Allow to come to a bubble for 3 minutes, whisking occasionally to help pick bits on the bottom of the pan. Add milk. Whisk to combine. Bring back to a bubble and add cheeses. Stir until cheese is melted and smooth. Add pasta to sauce and stir. Add bacon. Cook pasta in sauce for five minutes over medium heat. Serve and enjoy!
