Beef Tips and Gravy

Last night for dinner I made these delicious beef tips and gravy with mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli. I used a partial recipe from HERE and added one can of beef gravy and made some other changes to the recipe below.

Ingredients:
1.5 pound steak sirloin
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp butter
1 tbsp onion powder
2 tbsp garlic powder
1/4 cup flour
3 cups beef broth
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp thyme
1 tbsp basil
1 can beef gravy

Ingredients for Beef Tips and Gravy

Directions:
Cut the sirloin steak into chunks and season with salt and pepper. Heat the olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef cubes on all sides.

You can do this in batches if you would like. Remove from the skillet and set them aside. Add butter and let it melt and then add the onion powder and garlic powder for 30-60 seconds. Sprinkle the flour into the pot. Stir well for another 30-60 seconds. Pour the beef broth into the pot and whisk the mixture well.

Then add the beef gravy, soy sauce, Worcestershire, thyme and seared beef.

Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for 25 minutes (I did medium to low heat so the meat didn't overcook) or until the beef is tender. Check after 20-25 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add basil at the end and salt and pepper for taste. Serve with mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli. Enjoy!
