Homemade Chicken Fried Steak

Last night Kevin and I had the house to ourselves so we made a delicious homemade chicken fried steak dinner with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. We used the Food Network's recipe originally but we only made two steaks - one for me and one for him - so we used less of the ingredients. And instead of making our own gravy, we used a store-bought brown gravy.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
2 tsp seasoned salt
pepper
3/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 chicken fried steak pieces
salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tbsp butter

Directions:
To make the steak, you are going to set up an assembly line with 2 bowls. Mix the milk and eggs in one bowl and then in the second bowl you will have the flour, seasoned salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne.

Take one piece of meat, sprinkle with salt and pepper, dip in the flour mixture. Completely cover with the flour mixture. Place the meat in the milk/egg mixture, turning to coat and then place back in the flour mixture. Shake off and place on a clean plate. Do this with all chicken fried steak pieces.

Heat oil in a large skilled on medium heat. Add the butter and wait a few minutes until it's sizzling hot. Cook the meat, one at a time, until the edges are golden brown, about two minutes per side. Remove the meat to a paper towel and keep them warm by covering with another towel.

Enjoy with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes and cover with brown gravy.
